The cult German band Scooter, which was popular in the early 2000s, is going to perform on August 4 in the annexed Crimea. The group will give a concert as part of the ZB Fest festival in Balaklava. This news caused a wide response. According to Ukrainian law, for a tour on the peninsula, musicians face from one to eight years in prison.

Scooter has announced that it will play on the Crimean Peninsula. This statement was immediately interpreted as an expression of favor to Vladimir Putin. The musicians were criticized by German and Ukrainian politicians for their decision to play in the annexed territory. In Germany, they said that Scooter openly accepted the position of Russia, and in Ukraine they started talking about criminal liability. According to the laws of the country, foreigners can cross the border only with a special permit and they are obliged to enter Crimea from Ukraine. Violation of these requirements provides for criminal liability. However, Ukrainian politicians doubt that a case will be opened against the Scooter musicians, even if they perform on the peninsula.

Vocalist H. P. Baxter was very surprised when he learned about the situation with the performance and the ensuing discussion. He stated that the group is not going to Crimea to support political leaders, but because their fans live there. And the musicians have something to show and something to surprise.

This opinion is shared by the manager of the German group Jens Tele. He says that the musicians did not want to become participants in the musical conflict. Jens Tele emphasized that the team has been touring Ukraine and Russia since 1995. During this time, Scooter has gained a lot of fans who are looking forward to them.

Many drew attention to one nuance: the official website of the group does not indicate the country next to the date of the performance in Balaklava. The organizers decided to avoid a political scandal and tactfully get away from it. Jens Tele admitted that this way Scooter remains neutral.

L'One, Leningrad, SerGa, Dima Bilan, Degrees and Brigada S will perform together with Scooter at the ZB Fest in Balaklava.

As a reminder, Scooter was founded in 1993 in Germany. The group was named the most famous in the world. Scooter plays electronic music of different genres. In 2016, the band released their last album called "Ace".
