The defender of the Barcelona football team, Gerard Piquet, finally made an offer to his common-law wife and mother of two children, the Latin American singer Shakira. He spoke about this on the air of the Italian talk show Pomeriggio.

The couple decided to get married after 7 years of marriage. Prior to that, young people have repeatedly said that a civil marriage suits them completely, and they are not going to legitimize their relationship. According to Shakira herself, the stamp in her passport does not change anything for her. She never worried about the fact that she was raising sons from Piquet, but at the same time not his legal wife.

However, Piquet and Shakira changed their principles and decided to get married. What caused the happy event is unknown. Perhaps the reason was the trip of the couple with children to the singer's homeland - to the city of Barranquilla in Colombia. There, the lovers celebrated the New Year 2017. Most likely, Shakira's relatives pushed Pique to such a responsible step. After arrival, Gerard proposed to the girl. Shakira has already answered yes.

The star couple has not yet disclosed the official date of the ceremony, so as not to attract too much attention from the paparazzi. But Gerard confidently declares: "There will be ceremonies." Most likely, the wedding will take place in Columbia. And, apparently, it will be a large-scale celebration. During the talk show, the footballer said that he always saw Shakira as his wife.

Recall that the romance of Gerard Pique and Shakira began in 2010 after the young man starred in the singer's video for the song "WakWak (This Time for Africa)", the official single of the FIFA World Cup. Then the ill-wishers predicted an imminent break in the relationship. The thing is that Piquet is 10 years younger than his beloved. Shakira confirmed the connection with Pique only a year later. On her Twitter, she posted a photo of them together and signed: "I present to you my sun."

Three years later, the couple had a son, Milan, and two more years later, a son, Sasha.
