Rupert Grint played the famous redhead idiot in the films about "the boy who survived" and amassed a multi-million dollar fortune. True, as the actor himself admits, this did not make him happier. On the contrary, after the end of the filming of the franchise, he suffered from depression, and his colleague, who played Harry Potter himself, turned to alcohol.

Rupert and Daniel became "wizards" at the age of 11 and 10, respectively. After the first part, Harry and Ron became big celebrities: they gained popularity and an army of fans. All this lasted until the last part came out on the screens.

It was difficult to pursue an acting career. The directors saw in Rupert and Daniel the ill-fated Harry and Ron, from whom the actors could not get rid of for a long time. As a result, Rupert fell into depression, and Daniel began to seek comfort at the bottom of the bottle. Rupert now recalls his experiences at that time in an interview with Radio Times: “I hardly remember my life before Harry Potter. It was a rather strange time, I was completely involved in the process. I feel like I lost my real self along the way. Sometimes I wanted to become invisible and just go, say, to a barbecue with friends. But this is still difficult to do. With such fame, everyone sees you as your hero, and at some point you realize that you yourself are already having difficulty separating yourself and your character. After "Potter" I did not understand at all what I wanted to do. I had the feeling that I had missed a lot of normal, mundane things. I've lost touch with most of my high school friends. I wanted a normal life, so I took a break. I've never been super ambitious. I think, acting in the project, I wanted to prove a lot, first of all to myself, but at the same time I perfectly understand that I remain an ordinary, insecure person."

Indeed, Rupert missed a lot. For example, during filming, the actor was forbidden to undergo tonsil surgery. The directors feared that Grint would not be able to act during the recovery period for a long time, and that his voice might change. Therefore, the first thing the actor did after the filming was over was to have an operation on the tonsils.

As mentioned above, money is not happiness. According to foreign media reports, Rupert earned about £ 28 million for the entire franchise. Although the actor himself does not know the numbers: “Honestly, I didn’t count … I won’t tell you the exact figure, I just don’t know it, even approximately. Money is not my main motivation at work. They help you feel confident, it's better with them than without them. And I'm glad I have them, but I don't focus on my wealth."

We hope that now the actor is feeling much better, because we can already say about his significant roles besides Potter: Cherry Bomb, Lunar Scam, Illness and others. You will soon see the actor on the screens again. He starred in the mini-series "Murders Alphabetically" based on the novel of the same name by Agatha Christie with John Malkovich. The world premiere of the project is scheduled for December 26.
