Thank you @ laurabrown99 for your trust. It is always an honor to work with @instylemagazine! This cover shoot was certainly different, but I am so proud of what we created during this moment in time. I photographed myself at home. Pulled out some of my favorite t-shirts. Turned on my go-to playlist. Did my own hair and makeup … all while dancing in the mirror with my daughters, which is always the most fun way to get ready !! What moment I will never forget. “I eat really clean and healthy foods, and I do Pilates at least four days a week,” says Drew, whose talk show debuts this fall. “I have to work so hard not to be the size of a bus. And that's okay. This is my karma. I don't know, maybe I was thin and angry in a past life,”she said.
Drew first revealed her weight loss in a series of Instagram photos and videos in February. She shared a post about her personal trainer and good friend Marnie AltonDrew thanks for helping transform her body.
In addition to continuing her healthy lifestyle and fitness, Drew has been busy with homeschooling and work. “At first I felt very depressed - and I hate feeling overwhelmed. It was strange to be a mom, teacher, educator and friend,”she admitted. “For a while I was sad that I was everything I could offer my children. Then I realized that I needed to get out of this. I have so much empathy and patience for everyone but myself, it hurts,”she said, laughing.
Although she still works on herself every day, Drew, who calls herself “the coveted rug for man,” feels comfortable in her own body. “I am proud to be a little naughty, a little imperfect, a little scared, a little human,” she said. “I still think of comedy as such an antidote to the bad things in life. When things are as important and high as this time in the world, you wonder how to find your voice,”Drew continued, noting,“I write and speak as if no one is reading or listening. This does not mean that I do not care what people think.
Drew, who did her own hair and makeup, set up a tripod to photograph herself for the August 2020 issue of InStyle for the glossy magazine.
