In a new interview Angelina Jolie admitted that she was very touched by the support she received from all sides after a mastectomy - an operation to remove her breasts.

The actress took such a step last year when she learned that she had a gene that increased her chance of developing breast cancer. “I was very, very touched by the support and kindness of so many people,” the 38-year-old actress admits.

“Wherever I go, I talk to women everywhere, we discuss health issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I talked to men about their daughters and wives."

"It allows me to feel closer to other people who are facing the same problems who either lost their parents, or are going to have surgery, or are worried about their children."

Joliewhich together with Brad Pitt raising 6 children, she also explained why she let her 5-year-old daughter Vivienne play Princess Aurora in her new film Maleficent, where Jolie plays an evil witch.

“We think our kids love it when they can join us on set, but not be actors. But Brad and I don't have that goal. Other children would not be able to calmly approach me like this. I needed a child who knows and loves me, and will not be afraid of my horns, painted eyes and claws. That's why I had to play Viv."
