Video: US First Lady Jill Biden Chooses Brandon Maxwell's People Magazine Cover Dress

Fashion designer Brandon Maxwell shared a heartfelt note on social media after seeing First Lady Dr. Jill Biden in one of his designs on the cover of People magazine.
For the first interview with 78-year-old President Joe Biden and his wife at the White House since taking office on January 20, 69-year-old Dr. Biden chose a fuchsia-colored crepe midi dress from the American designer. When Maxwell saw the new First Lady gracing the PEOPLE cover in his design, he felt an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and "gratitude."
When Maxwell started working as a stylist and then a fashion designer in New York, he said that "the people I worked with asked me what my biggest goals were." His answer was always the same: "Over and over again I answered that seeing my work in PEOPLE magazine would mean a lot."

He continued, “I'm at home in Texas right now, and when I walked out of the grocery store last night with the new issue of PEOPLE magazine, I couldn't imagine waking up this morning to see the first lady of the United States wearing our dress on the new cover. Surprise, excitement and gratitude - it would be an understatement to describe these feelings."
Dr. Biden, who continues to highlight American brands such as Markarian, Jonathan Cohen and Christian Siriano, donned an elegant Maxwell design on January 21, his first full day as First Lady. She was photographed wearing this gown at a remote prayer service at the National Cathedral (with a matching face mask) and during an online conversation with 11,000 devotees across the country.
Maxwell only launched his line in 2015, but his streamlined silhouettes quickly became the favorites of many women in Hollywood and politics, including Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, Michelle Obama, Meghan Markle and many more.
One of the Texas native's most proud moments was dressing former First Lady Michelle Obama for her appearance at a 2016 state dinner. “For her to wear something that was not related to the dress, it meant being a part of someone's life, which influenced my life and the lives of many other young people,” he said earlier.
Maxwell burst into the industry with the help of mentors such as British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Anninful, who brought him to the concert, assisting Lady Gaga's stylist.
