Disney and Sony, by some strange coincidence, at the same time decided to create a film adaptation of the cartoon "Mulan".
These are two completely different and independent projects, which are currently under development. True, Sony are advancing somewhat faster than their competitors. They also decided on the director who will deal with this production. Today it became known that the cartoon "Mulan" will be transferred to the big screens by a film maker who previously worked on "Game of Thrones", "Shameless" and "News Service". "Mulan" on Sony will be directed by Alex Graves.
The company entrusted the writing of the script to the author of "Snow White: Revenge of the Dwarfs" Jason Keller.
A release date for Sony's Mulan has yet to be announced, while Disney intends to release its variation on November 2, 2018.
By the way, the main contender of Disney for the director's chair of the project Ang Lee ("Life of Pi") refused to participate. This seat is now vacant. Representatives of the company have not announced new applicants yet.
Recall that the film is based on a medieval Chinese poem about Hua Mulan, a woman who joined the army in order to save her father from this fate.
