Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock is looking for a hefty amount of child support for his family and children.
The 43-year-old music manager is demanding $ 436,000 in monthly child support for himself and his children after a Los Angeles County judge granted Clarkson primary physical custody of their children: River Rose, 6, and Remington Alexander, 4.
“Brandon was equally unfounded in his requests for child and spouse support and attorney fees,” the source says. "Kelly offered to pay all the children's expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is eligible for spousal support and needs $ 301,000 in child support a month."
If Blackstock's request remains, he will receive over $ 5.2 million a year.
"Plus, he's already asked for $ 2 million in attorney fees when he himself increases the cost of divorce and seven attorneys represent him alone," the source adds.
The money request came after Clarkson filed for divorce in June after seven years of marriage. The divorce proceedings are still ongoing.
A source close to the family also says Clarkson is “happy” with the custody decision and that her priority is protecting her children.
“As Kelly said, her first priority in all of this is caring for the children and all the hearts involved in this divorce,” says a second source. "It was a tough time for everyone, but Kelly is happy with the custody decision."
“Divorce is tough and stressful for most couples going through it. But Kelly's main focus is on doing everything possible to protect the children,”the source adds. "In this case, she had to fight for them because Brandon and his attorneys made unfounded requests."
