The premiere of the upcoming Wendy Williams: The Movie will cover many life events, including the date rape charge. For the first time ever, Lifetime executive producer and inspiration Wendy Williams blamed the late R&B singer Sherrick rape on one of his dates. The sexual assault allegation will also be highlighted in the film's January 30 premiere. Wendy shared her date rape story in an interview leading up to the release of the biopic.
“Sherrick mesmerized me with his twinkling eyes,” Wendy told reporters and in an interview with People on January 12, referring to the famous artist who wrote the 80s R&B hits “Just Call” and “Baby I’m For Real”. Wendy claimed to have met Sherrick during an interview in the 80s before he passed away in 1999 and continued: “He was among the invitees back then, where he interviewed me - I was just crazy about this man, after why he asked me to go with him to the release party for the new album, with him that night."
Then Wendy said, "And before the party, he raped me on a date." The talk show also revealed that she was the victim of a college date rape, saying, "This is the scenario that happens to girls like me all the time." The TV presenter added: "And this has happened many times, with many of our mothers, grandmothers, great-great-grandmothers and their great-great-grandmothers too."
