Cliff died on March 9

“It is with unimaginable grief that I share with you that I have to report that my beloved husband, Cliff Simon, passed away at 12:30 on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. He was in Topanga Beach, California and unfortunately passed away after a tragic kiteboarding accident, "Cliff's wife wrote on her Facebook page. She added: “A small saving grace of this tragedy is that he did what he loved most and died on the beach by the water, which was his temple. I know this is a shock and will hit hard, but we hope you respect our need for privacy at this time.” The direct cause of Cliff's death has not been reported.

Upon hearing the tragic news, Cliff's past partners began to mourn his death on Twitter. 53 year old Swann Brown, who played Hathor in the sci-fi television series Stargate SG-1, tweeted, “I am so devastated knowing I will never see your smiling face again, my dear friend. @cliffmsimon, you left us too early and I am completely heartbroken. I pray to Colette and your family. The world won't be the same without you."

He was best known for his role in Stargate: SG -1»

In particular, Cliff played the villainous Baal in Stargate SG-1. He appeared in 15 episodes over the show's 6 seasons. He reprized his role in the 2008 film Stargate Continuum. He also played Mitch for several years on the South African TV series Aegoli: A Place of Gold.

He was a famous swimmer

From a young age, Cliff strove to become an excellent swimmer. After the family moved from South Africa to England, Cliff continued his training in swimming. He even qualified for the UK Swimming Team. At 17, Cliff was on his way to qualifying for the 1984 Summer Olympics, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He eventually left and joined the South African Air Force. He served a two-year sentence.
