Jessica Walter, the award-winning actress and star of the sitcom Arrested Development, has died. She was 80 years old.

Her daughter, Brooke Bowman, confirms this unfortunate news. Walter died in her sleep on Wednesday while staying at her home in New York.

“It is with a heavy heart that I acknowledge the passing of my beloved mother Jessica. Having worked as an actress for over six decades, her biggest pleasure was bringing joy to others by telling stories both on and off screen,”Bowman said in a released statement. "While her legacy will live on in her work, many will be remembered for her wit, class and overall cheerfulness."

Walter was nominated for and later received the coveted award for her role in Amy Prentiss.

In addition to her screen work, Walter has also been a veteran of the scene, appearing on several shows including Tartuffe and Photo Finish, and winning the Tony Awards for her turn at Anything Goes.

Most recently, Walter voiced the character Malorie Archer in the FXX animated series Archer and appeared in an episode of American Housewife.

Walter was previously married to actor Ron Liebman until his death in 2019. Together with Bowman, Walter had a grandson, Mick Heymann.
