Video: Selma Blair Spoke About The Incurable Diagnosis

Actress Selma Blair is best known for her roles in the films Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde. The other day, the 46-year-old star told fans on her Instagram that she was suffering from an incurable disease.

The actress noticed the first symptoms 15 years ago. Then she did not suspect that after so many years, on August 16, 2018, doctors would give her a disappointing diagnosis. “Two days ago I went for a fitting, and then I decided that I should share what was happening to me. On that day, Alice Swanson, a great costume designer for the series Another Life, in which I play one of the main roles, neatly helped me put on my pants, outerwear, buttoned up my coat and offered my shoulder. I have multiple sclerosis. Now I have an aggravation. Thank God and Netflix's understanding: I still have work to do. Great job. I'm disabled. Sometimes I fall or drop things. I have memory problems, my mind is clouded, and my left half of my body works like a broken GPS. But we can handle it. And I laugh, not knowing what to do next, but I know for sure that I will do my best."
Every day, her friends and relatives help Selma to cope with the symptoms of her illness. “Since my diagnosis - at 10:30 pm on August 16 - I have been constantly supported by friends and colleagues. Thank you for that! It’s not easy for me, but I hope that I can give hope to others - and even myself. You cannot get help unless you ask for it. This can be incredibly difficult at first. I want to sleep, I always want to sleep. So I don't have any answers - I just want to sleep. But I am a forward-looking person and I want to somehow make my life complete. I want to play with my son again. I want to walk down the street and ride my horse. I have multiple sclerosis and I'm fine."
The actress calls on everyone to help her in a difficult situation and is not ashamed of her illness. She gained strength and shared a story, which hopefully made her a little happier. “But if you see me picking up things that have fallen out of my hands, do not hesitate, come and help me. For me, this business may be overwhelming at that moment, and your help will save me half a day. The diagnosis was made not so long ago, but I have had symptoms for many years. I paid no attention to them, did not take them seriously. It all started with the fact that I went to the doctor to prescribe me treatment for pain, which, as it seemed to me, was caused by a pinched nerve. Then I realized that for the last 15 years I had been closing my eyes to the symptoms of a real disease. I am glad that I have finally clarified the situation with my health. And also that I shared the story with you,”writes Blair in an open letter to fans.
